LiceGuard Robi Comb Electronic Head Lice Detector Review by Shayna Morrison, Perth, Australia, May 27, 2008
I bought the Robi comb because I work with children. I need to have this, as it is just not an option to treat with the chemicals the amount I contract lice.
Whenever I know there has been an outbreak at the daycare I get home and run it through my hair, sure enough, it stops buzzing and I look, to find an electrocuted louse. I keep going over my hair for around 10 minutes of continual buzzing while I watch TV, then I wash with shampoo mixed with Tea Tree oil.
Unless you have a totally natural remedy that you can make up all the time, I recommend getting this comb. I could not be without it.
LiceGuard Robi Comb Electronic Head Lice Detector Review by Kira, Chiswick, London, UK, July 12, 2008
I had tried everything when I found this comb, and I found it to be the easiest, fastest, and most effective method of removing lice. I was using a plastic comb and that was useless, but the metal comb would catch in the hair, hurting my daughter and making combing the nits out hell. This comb did not do this. The comb does not kill the lice, but it does get them so you just brush the lice out of the comb and into hot water, I used water and vinegar. It is great to catch the tiny lice that you just can’t see.

If you have got lice, get the Robi Comb, because it works! There is nothing out there that just kills lice with one simple shampoo, I wish! This worked when all else failed!
My daughter came home one day and was scratching her head. I thought she just wasn’t shampooing properly, so I told her to go wash her hair, and to rinse out the residue properly. I thought this was what was making her hair itch. When later she was still scrtahcing I looked in her hair, and I saw white flecks. Silly me, I thought it was just dandruff, but then I saw something move! To my horror, it was lice! I felt terrible, like a terrible mother, like I had let her down.
I started my research, and I read a lot of myths. You can catch them from pets, etc. These things simply aren’t true. I spent a small fortune on shampoos, none of which worked. I was at the end of my tether. I felt desperate and alone. Everything I tried wasn’t working. If I missed ONE nit they would all come back in droves, it was so terrible. They said they would kill the nits but in my reasearch I found that NO PRODUCT can kill nits. I was doing everything the shampoos said to the absolute letter, but the pharmacist made me feel like it was me doing something wrong. I felt EVERYONE thought that it was me doing something wrong.
Then I discovered the Robi comb. You just run it on a AA battery. It buzzes and I thought I had got out all the lice and nits and then I ran this comb through. I saw I had missed so many of them, I couldn’t believe it. It gets the ones that are so small you can hardly see them and electrocutes the wee nasties. It kills lice that are only tiny before they are old enough to lay any more eggs. When the nits hatch you don’t even have to worry about it as the Robi Comb gets them. I used it every day for 14 days, then on mondays and thursdays after that.
For me it was pure joy when I would comb through her hair and the buzzing sound no longer stopped. When it did stop I would feel absolute glee that it had killed another louse. I spent hundreds of dollars on the chemical shampoos that claimed to kill lice and eggs but DIDN’T! I wish I could go back and just buy the comb!
If you are reading this before you have spent a fortune on the pesticides, just buy the comb. It was the best $30 I ever spent!
LiceGuard Robi Comb Electronic Head Lice Detector Review by caryn, marietta ga USA, September 14, 2009
Well, our nightmare has come true…lice….ugh….10 yrs old my daughter is and no lice and we thought we were home free….til her head started itching…first time i saw her itch i asked if anyone at school had lice recently or was out for it…and she said she went to nurse’s office at school one day when she lost her tooth and a girl went home with it….but of course it is one of those things that is so embarassing no one ever tells….although if some one has lice i think the school should inform parents to be checking their kids ect….no one has to know the name of the child that for sure has them because its pointless…they got them from someone and can give them and you should just be checking your kid period and know when an outbreak has happened. Anyways…..we tried the Nix….im pregnant and it was all i was allowed to use according to my OB…..anything homeopathic he said was a risk still because he did not know what was in it still….and so i went with Nix….to my suprise…after treating all the heads….i was still finding them alive in my daughters hair….and it seemed like more were there then when i found the first one. See i had been checking her all week and never saw anything….i even asked the school nurse to look one day last week when i was there to give her some motrin for her teeth she has been losing. Nurse saw nothing….but the itching went on for about a week maybe few days longer….and i thought maybe she wasnt getting all the soap out of her hair….so i made her go use head and shoulders and rinse really good….she came out of shower and i sat down and looked one more time thinking this will be it…and low and behold….there is a little sucker on her neck!!!!!-but back to the Nix….so, it didnt work…i mean we left on for few extra minutes even when it said not to….and i still found them alive after rinsing and about an hour after as well….so i went and gt the olive oil out….smothered it all over her head….put a plastic grocery bag on it and she was so tired i had to let her lay down with it…..left it on about 2 hours….during this time i went online trying to figure out what the heck im going to do…..husband cant see any in my hair…i cant see any in his…but he barely has any and mine is long and thick……plus i was the one treating her….so i was thinking i may have contracted a few…..and i had to figure something out…..so as im washing everything….spraying things down…..looking around…on the interent reading..i come across the Robi comb….in several different areas….some say it works…some say it doesnt….but i dont care…two or three testimonials i read said it worked and so i looke dit up….man…30.00 i said….i had already spent 30.00 on the Nix kit….and i had got laid off this year and about to have baby so funds are very low…..but….i thought if it works its worth it…..just will conserve on gas and stuff this week…..so, ya…3am i cant wait….i go to Walgreens, get one…rush home..try it out on myself first since my hair is dry…and low and behold…zap…got two or three in my hair right away….i had brushed it and cleaned that brush and went through all my hair i could reach on my own….and heard little zaps here and there….and then soon..nothing….but like i said…i may have not been infested like her……so, I wake up my daughter…wash out the oil….with dawn and clarifying shampoo…..dry it with dryer…(poor baby is asleep while im drying her hair sitting up)……your hair has to be dry…..so i get her hair dry and i had wiped the teeth of the comb with alcohol and left it to dry while i was drying her hair…plenty of time for it to be ready…..but when i went to use in her hair….stupid thing wouldnt turn on…i think the wetness of the alcohol could of broke it or im not sure…but i was so dissappointed…but…knew it did zap lice and so i rushed back to cvs…yes this is about 4am now…exchanged it for a new one….came home…..started going through the hair on my 10 yr old…even though the oil was suppose to suffocate them i knew i would find a few….and low and behold zap…zap…got a couple….although i could see some knits that were stuck to her hair that wewrent getting zapped..or pulling out with comb anyways….but…the live ones were comming out. After a few minutes no more zapping…..and realistically i know there may be some eggs or even an adult we missed…but i plan to use this thing every day for 2 weeks like it says and hopefully we will zap them daily and nothing will lay eggs or hatch and we will kill the cycle. So, my grade here is a B+….it got some…and it put me at ease that it will kill them if you run it through your hair for awhile and you just have to use it daily. Btter then paying for the lice killing lotion and then seeing them still alive….that jut made me mad.
So all in all….i had to return it for a new one….not sure how im going to clean it….the troubleshooting is not clear…but….i feel better…my daughter feels better…..and now we just have to keep a daily hting going on til we feel like they are all gone. Lice cant live unless they are in your hair on your scalp….so we have quarantined areas to leave alone for 3 days like it says….3 days or less will give them time to die without a host. My daughter will miss couple days of school and im going to ask for strict anenimity on her name but that they alert parents.
Last thing we need is reinfestation.
but…..with this comb……maybe we will manage to zap these suckers gone off our heads…..once that happens….if you keep things washed and only re-use what you can constantly wash……and spray…..then it think this is a good item to have. So, thank you whoeevr created this…atleast we have a chance…since the OTC stuff doesn twork too well and Rx stuff is up for debate on causing seizures and not being healthy for people to really use safely.
wish us luck……6am…..man what a day this will be.
